State PSC (BPSC · UPPSC · MPPSC · RPSC · MPSC)
Resume Format That Clears DV
Selection is exam-based — but your bio-file decides how smoothly verification, skill tests and joining go. Here's exactly what the State PSC pipeline expects.
Where your resume actually matters in State PSC recruitment
- ✓The detailed application form most state commissions open after prelims — the state equivalent of UPSC's DAF
- ✓The interview / personality test, where the board reads that form
- ✓Document verification, where domicile, category and name consistency are checked line by line
The State PSC format rules
- 1.Domicile is not a formality here — it gates state quota, age relaxation and in several states the women's horizontal reservation. Carry the certificate in the state's own prescribed format, not a generic residence proof.
- 2.Category certificates must be in the commission's prescribed format and inside whatever validity window that notification specifies. A central-format OBC certificate is routinely rejected where the state prescribes its own.
- 3.Name and date of birth must be byte-identical across matric certificate, domicile certificate and category certificate. State commissions treat the matric certificate as the master record; everything else has to reconcile to it.
- 4.State-language competence is a real eligibility item, not a nice-to-have — several commissions run a qualifying language paper (Hindi in BPSC/UPPSC/MPPSC, Marathi in MPSC). State read/write/speak levels honestly.
- 5.Localise your interview form the way the board thinks: your district's crops, industries, scheme performance and current administrative issues are the default question pool once they read your home district.
- 6.If you are already in state or central service, most notifications require an employer NOC at verification. Start that paperwork before the result, not after.
Section order
- •Category: EWS (certificate in Bihar's prescribed format, issued 2026)
- •Optional/interest area: rural water supply — district has 3 ongoing Har Ghar Nal schemes
- •PoR: Placement coordinator, Civil dept (2022-23)
- •Post preference: DSP > BAS > Revenue Officer — reasoned on field-administration interest
State PSC resume — common questions
Is a resume needed for a state PSC interview?+
Not a free-form resume — the commission's own detailed application form plays that role, and the board reads it. What helps is preparing the same way you would for UPSC: know every entry you made, and know your home district cold, because that is where board questions default to.
Why do state PSCs reject category certificates that worked elsewhere?+
Because most state commissions prescribe their own certificate format and their own issuing authority, and many also fix a validity window in the notification. A certificate that satisfies a central recruitment can still fail a state one. Read the notification's annexure formats before you get the certificate made.
How important is the state language?+
It is an eligibility item in several commissions, which run a qualifying paper in the state language. Beyond the paper, boards do sometimes switch to the state language mid-interview. State your read/write/speak levels honestly — an overstated claim is discovered in about thirty seconds.
