The Anganwadi format rules
- 1.Worker and helper selection normally has no written exam. Merit comes from your marks in the qualifying examination — 8th, 10th or 12th, as your state's notification specifies. That means the marks field and the certificate behind it are the whole contest.
- 2.You must be a permanent resident of the same village, ward or municipality where the Anganwadi centre is located. A district-level residence proof is not the same thing; get the residence certificate at the level the notification names.
- 3.The single most common rejection is a name mismatch after marriage. If your marksheet carries your maiden name and your residence or Aadhaar carries your married name, carry the linking document — marriage certificate or gazette notification — and state both names on the form.
- 4.Priority and preference categories (widow, destitute, divorced, SC/ST/OBC, BPL) need the state's own certificate in the state's own format, issued by the named authority. Generic affidavits are rejected.
- 5.Keep the biodata to one page and in the order the form asks. This is a clerical scrutiny at project level, not a recruiter reading a pitch — deviating from the prescribed order slows your file down.
- 6.Supervisor posts are a different animal: they carry a written exam and interview, and there a fuller resume with ICDS scheme knowledge, community-mobilisation work and any prior Anganwadi service genuinely helps.
- 7.Prior Anganwadi, ASHA or self-help-group work is worth stating with dates and the centre or block name — several states give it explicit weight for worker posts.
