How to cancel Resume.io — and get a refund

The cancellation steps and the actual refund rules, quoted from Resume.io's own help pages and linked so you can check every line yourself.

Policies read directly from Resume.io on September 4, 2026

The single most useful thing to know about Resume.io billing is in its own help centre and catches a lot of people out: the subscription runs on a 4-week cycle, not a calendar month. A 4-week cycle comes round 13 times a year rather than 12, so the renewal date drifts earlier each month and you get one more charge per year than a monthly plan would suggest.

The second thing worth knowing is that Resume.io's refund window is tied to when you created your account — not to when you cancelled, and not to whether you used the product. Both policies are quoted below from Resume.io's own help centre and linked so you can verify them.

Disclosure: ApplyVita is a competing resume tool. That is exactly why every policy statement on this page is a direct quote with a link to Resume.io's own page — so you can verify it rather than take our word for it. We have no affiliate relationship with Resume.io and earn nothing if you cancel.

How to cancel Resume.io

  1. On the web: open Resume.io's contact page and choose the "Cancel Subscription" tab from the menu.
  2. Search for your account by the email address you signed up with, then confirm the cancellation from the confirmation email Resume.io sends.
  3. In the app: log in, click your profile photo in the top-right to open the drop-down, choose "Account Settings", and use the downgrade option at the top of that page.
  4. Keep the confirmation email — it is your evidence of the cancellation date.

After you cancel: Resume.io states that after you confirm cancellation you keep premium access for 30 days from your last monthly payment, or 7 days from your last trial payment. Yearly and six-month plans downgrade to the free plan when the paid period ends, and you can still log in to access your documents.

Can you get a refund?

Refunds are limited to the first 7 days after your account was created. Resume.io's help centre is explicit that this is measured from account creation — not from your cancellation attempt, and not from whether you used premium features.

Refunds cannot be issued if more than 7 days have passed since account creation, even if you attempted to cancel before renewal.

The billing detail worth checking

Per Resume.io's help centre, subscriptions run on a 4-week (28-day) cycle counted from your first payment date rather than on calendar months. Over a year that is 13 billing events, not 12 — worth doing the arithmetic on before you assume the annual cost.

Why ApplyVita has no cancellation page of its own

ApplyVita is a one-time payment. There is no subscription, nothing auto-renews, and no payment method is stored to charge you again — so there is nothing to cancel. When a plan ends you simply return to the free tier.

To be straight with you about our own limits: ApplyVita's free tier does not include PDF/DOCX download either. Downloads come with a paid plan (Starter buys 7 days of full access plus 3 downloads). The difference we're claiming is not "we're free and they're not" — it's that you pay us once, on purpose, instead of being billed again every few weeks.

Every ApplyVita plan carries a 7-day money-back guarantee.

Questions people ask

Either from the website — open Resume.io's contact page, choose the "Cancel Subscription" tab, find your account by email and confirm via the email they send — or in the app, by logging in, opening Account Settings from the profile menu, and using the downgrade option at the top of that page.
