Declaration for Resume

Short answer: A resume declaration is a one-line statement at the bottom confirming the information is true — typically: "I hereby declare that the above information is true and correct to the best of my knowledge." Include it for government, teaching, bank and traditional Indian employers; skip it for IT, MNC and ATS-driven corporate applications.

The declaration line is a holdover from paper biodata culture. It still appears on millions of Indian resumes — sometimes because the employer expects it, sometimes because a college placement template included it by default.

When to include a declaration

Include a declaration for: government and PSU applications, teaching and school jobs, bank and clerical roles, campus placement submissions where the cell template requires it, and biodata-style formats. Skip it for: product companies, IT services applying through Naukri/LinkedIn, startups, and any employer using an ATS — parsers often misread footer text and it adds no signal.

Standard declaration text (copy-paste)

Place after your last section, left-aligned, with your signature, place and date on the lines below. **English:** I hereby declare that all the information furnished above is true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief. **Hindi (when the form asks):** मैं घोषणा करता/करती हूँ कि उपरोक्त दी गई सभी जानकारी मेरी जानकारी और विश्वास के अनुसार सत्य और सही है।

Formatting rules

One line only — not a paragraph. No bold borders or boxed declarations. Sign in blue/black ink if printing; typed name + "(Signature)" if submitting digitally. Place and date on separate lines: "Place: Bengaluru" then "Date: 06/08/2026" (DD/MM/YYYY for India).

Declaration for Resume — FAQ

Is declaration mandatory in a resume?+

Not for most private-sector and IT jobs. Mandatory or expected for government, teaching, banks and traditional employers. When unsure, check the application instructions — if they say biodata or attach signed resume, include it.

Where does the declaration go on a resume?+

At the very bottom, after education or references. Left-aligned. Signature, place and date below the declaration line.

Should freshers include a declaration?+

Only if the campus placement cell or employer requires it. For Naukri and product-company applications, skip it — use the space for projects and skills instead.
