How to cancel Resume Genius — and get a refund
The cancellation steps and the actual refund rules, quoted from Resume Genius's own help pages and linked so you can check every line yourself.
Resume Genius is one of the simpler subscriptions to stop: you can switch it off yourself from My Account, in the upper right-hand menu once you are logged in, without speaking to anyone. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, so you keep paid access until then.
The refund rule is the part to read twice. Resume Genius's terms allow a full refund while you are still inside your 14-day subscription term, and say plainly that the remaining part of a later billing period is not refundable. Resume Genius is a separate company from the BOLD-owned builders, and its policies are worded differently — the quotes below are from its own terms and support pages.
Disclosure: ApplyVita is a competing resume tool. That is exactly why every policy statement on this page is a direct quote with a link to Resume Genius's own page — so you can verify it rather than take our word for it. We have no affiliate relationship with Resume Genius and earn nothing if you cancel.
How to cancel Resume Genius
- Log in to Resume Genius and click My Account in the upper right-hand menu.
- Use the subscription controls there to deactivate the subscription. The same page lets you change billing details and opt out of marketing email.
- If anything goes wrong, Resume Genius's support page lists a phone line, (866) 215-9048, open Monday to Friday 8am–7pm EDT and closed at weekends, plus email at support@resumegenius.com and live chat.
- Want to know how long you have? Resume Genius says the next renewal date is shown under My Account → Plan Information.
- Inside the first 14 days and want a refund? You must contact customer service — by phone, email or live chat — before that 14-day term ends. Deactivating the subscription does not request one for you.
After you cancel: Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid term, and the rest of that term stays active. Once it ends, Resume Genius's terms say you can only view your documents — not download, print or edit them. The free plan still lets you download a resume as a plain-text file.
Can you get a refund?
A full refund may be given while you are still within the 14-day subscription term, if you contact customer service before that term ends. After that, cancelling stops future billing but the remainder of the current period is not refundable.
“ResumeGenius.com may provide a full refund to customers who are still within their 14-day subscription term.”
“You may cancel your subscription at any time without additional charges, and the cancellation will take an effect at the end of the current billing period. Remaining part of the subscription remains active and is not refundable.”
“Once your subscription is cancelled, you will only be able to view your documents and you will not be able to download, print or edit them.”
“To find the date when your subscription will renew, please go to “My Account” and “Plan Information”.”
The billing detail worth checking
Resume Genius's pricing page shows a 14-day trial plan that auto-renews after 14 days and is then billed every four weeks, and an annual plan paid once for 12 months that renews annually. On payment methods its pricing FAQ says it can only accept credit cards — not PayPal, Venmo, prepaid or debit cards — although its terms of use mention credit or debit cards, so check at checkout if that matters to you.
What Resume Genius gives you free
Resume Genius's pricing page lists a Free Access plan, and its support page says you can download your resume as a text file for free once signed in. The pricing table puts PDF and Word downloads in the paid plans.
Resume Genius customer service phone numbers

- United States: (866) 215-9048 — Mon–Fri 8am–7pm EDT; closed Saturday and Sunday
ApplyVita is a one-time payment. There is no subscription, nothing auto-renews, and no payment method is stored to charge you again — so there is nothing to cancel. When a plan ends you simply return to the free tier.
To be straight with you about our own limits: ApplyVita's free tier does not include PDF/DOCX download either. Downloads come with a paid plan (Starter buys 7 days of full access plus 3 downloads). The difference we're claiming is not "we're free and they're not" — it's that you pay us once, on purpose, instead of being billed again every few weeks.
All ApplyVita purchases are final, so the ATS check is free — score your resume before you decide to pay anything.
