Kuwait CV Format

By The ApplyVita Career TeamUpdated

Short answer: A Kuwait CV is a one- or two-page English document with a personal-details block: nationality, residency status (for example a valid Civil ID under a private-sector work residency), whether your work permit can be transferred, notice period, and a Kuwaiti driving licence if you hold one. A passport-style photo is customary for agency and local-employer applications. Never print your Civil ID or passport number. For nursing and other health roles, put your Ministry of Health licence or eligibility status at the top.

Kuwait is a smaller, more relationship-driven market than the UAE or Saudi Arabia, and its vocabulary is its own: Civil ID, Article 18, the Public Authority for Manpower. A CV that uses those terms correctly reads as someone who already understands the move.

How do I write residency status on a Kuwait CV?

State your Civil ID validity, the residency type and whether you can move — not the ID number.

  • Civil ID valid to 04/2027 · Residency: Article 18 (private sector) · Transfer: eligible with current employer's approval
  • Civil ID valid · Residency: Article 22 (family) · Available immediately
  • Visa: sponsorship required — applying from India · Available 60 days from offer

Transfer rules for private-sector work permits depend on your sector, length of service and, in some cases, your current employer's approval, and they are changed by ministerial decision. Confirm your own position with the Public Authority for Manpower before you write “transferable”.

What a Kuwait CV contains

Kuwaiti employers and agencies read a CV top-down looking for eligibility first, experience second:

  1. 1.Contact details — city in Kuwait or your home country, phone with country code (+965 if you have a Kuwaiti number), email.
  2. 2.Personal details — nationality, Civil ID validity and residency type, notice period, driving licence, languages. Date of birth is commonly included.
  3. 3.Summary — three lines: trade or profession, years, and where (Kuwait and GCC experience first).
  4. 4.Experience — reverse-chronological with month and year, employer's full name and achievements.
  5. 5.Education and certifications — with issuing body and validity dates.

One page for freshers, two for experienced staff. Write in English; an Arabic version helps only for some government-linked employers.

Civil ID, Article 18 and work-permit transfers

Kuwait's residency system sets the vocabulary of a Kuwaiti CV. Every resident has a Civil ID card issued by the Public Authority for Civil Information. Residency is issued under different articles of the residency law — private-sector employment, government employment and family residency are the categories you will see most — and private-sector work permits are managed by the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM), largely through its online services.

Why it matters for the CV: an employer hiring someone already in Kuwait on a private-sector residency may be able to transfer the work permit, which is much faster and cheaper than recruiting from abroad. Whether a transfer is possible depends on rules PAM sets — your sector, how long you have worked for your current employer and, in some cases, your employer's approval — and those rules have changed several times by ministerial decision.

So write the facts you can verify: Civil ID validity, residency type, and “transfer eligible” only when you have checked. Family-residency holders should say so, because they may be able to take up work under a different process.

Photo, nationality and other personal details

Kuwaiti employers are used to CVs that carry more personal information than Western ones. A passport-style photo — plain background, business attire — is customary for agency, SME and many local-employer applications. Nationality is expected because it affects eligibility and processing.

Oil-sector companies, banks and multinationals that recruit through formal portals parse text and may apply group-wide policies that do not use photos, so keep a version without one.

What stays off: Civil ID number, passport number, father's name, religion unless a posting genuinely asks, and the Indian-style declaration. If a recruiter needs identity documents, they will ask after a shortlist.

Nurses and health professionals: MOH licensing

Kuwait's Ministry of Health regulates the licensing of health professionals in the country, and the ministry is also the largest employer of nurses. Licensing involves verification of your qualifications and experience and, for many categories, an exam; private hospitals hire under the same licensing framework.

On a healthcare CV:

  • Licence line first: Kuwait MOH licence: Registered Nurse (active) or MOH eligibility: documents verified 2026-06; exam pending.
  • Clinical detail: specialty, unit, bed count, patient ratio, procedures and systems for each role.
  • Home registration: your nursing council and registration number.
  • Mandatory training — BLS, ACLS where relevant — with expiry dates.

Check current requirements on moh.gov.kw; recruitment drives for overseas nurses are often run through authorised agencies, and legitimate ones do not charge for the job itself. The registered nurse resume example shows how to write the clinical bullets.

Freshers and applicants from India

Entry-level hiring from abroad is hard everywhere in the Gulf, and Kuwait is no exception: Kuwaitisation policies favour Kuwaiti nationals for many roles, particularly in government, and employers sponsoring a fresher from abroad weigh the cost carefully. The routes that work most often are trades and technical roles with recognised certificates, healthcare, and candidates already in Kuwait on family residency.

If you are applying from India, state Sponsorship required — available 60 days from offer, keep the CV to one page with projects or apprenticeships in place of experience, and get your degree attestation started early. The Gulf CV for freshers guide and the Indian resume to Gulf CV guide cover the conversion in detail.
